Man-Machine argument on Craigslist/Philosophy

I have a presence on Craigslist philosophy forums as the username ObamaEraCyborg. I started the username on President Obama's inauguration day. I do not "troll" on the forum, I "meme bomb" the forum with a political/social agenda.

Lately I've noticed two fairly long discussion threads in which the original poster mentions my name and my philosophy stance. It seems my pro-technology memes are ruminating in peoples heads, which means my meme propagation project is working.

Ironically, I learned the value of meme warfare from my philosophical enemy: postmodernists, most specifically during my tenure as grad student in Whole Systems Design at Antioch University. That school taught me the phrase "do you want to be right, or be effective?". Postmodernists taught me that it is not by being objectively correct that I will spread an agenda, it is by pure and amoral propaganda. Propagation, with an emphasis on lodging my ideas inside subjects who oppose its propagation. By their mentioning of my ideas/values in a hostile way, they carry my ideas further. A step further up the meta, I recognize that by employing postmodern tactics I am propagated by my so called enemy, and one could say that I am losing the war by being like my opponent. I can obliterate this by reference to the moral sphere, specifically moral consistency. A good warrior does not employ moral consistency. I worship in the church of objectivity and rationalism, but on the battlefield have no problem disregarding the manners and civility I would practice while at church. Whatever it takes to kill off the Luddite, the zero-growth Nature lover, and the anarcho-primitivist. The 19th century was the wholesale destruction of the primitive( no metal use humans), the 20th century exterminated the peasant ( local economy humans ), and the 21st will be something similar for another retrogressive class. My guess the class slated for demotion will be those who think without using technology. My education, and tens of thousands of dollars spent, at Antioch U will help me help the 21st century with its network hygiene goal.

Here is the best thread so far:http://seattle.craigslist.org/forums/?ID=118078118

Mandate to end Postmodernism

Referenced documents:
A President Forgotten but Not Gone
By FRANK RICH
Published: January 4, 2009
Highlights of Accomplishments and Results (15MB PDF)
- The Administration of George W. Bush

Frank Rich's NYT column A President Forgotten but Not Gone is an analysis of the last marketing campaign of the Bush Administration. Rich focuses on the GWB regime's exit interviews, a greater number of interviews than any previous President. In all the interviews, Bush/Cheney/Rove have ( with a straight face ) put forth a glowing review of their tenure. Add to these interviews the regime made headlines as the most environmental president ever with the Jan 5 announcement of the largest marine sanctuary in the world (Grist).

Contrast this with the rhetoric of Obama. He is an engineer, a social and cultural engineer. Our tribal subjectivisms are duly noted in his speeches, and he asks us to transcend past them to make a more robust, wealthier, healthier, and inventive society. In his world view their is work to do, criteria, and success or failure upon reflection. In his world view, we can't just make shit up.

The GWB Regime, by contrast, is entirely contained in its tribal subjectivisms -serving its base, ignoring or gunning for the rest. The GWB Regime was the greatest achievement of postmodern tactics. This week, with the view provided by Frank Rich, we are seeing Postmodernism with one foot in the grave, touting itself as forever relevant, so oblivious to empirical data that it will not know its lights are about to go out forever till its lights are out forever.

Within the Postmodern semiotic, tribes echo chamber their values within, and attack the tribes that are opponents. Since sometime around the George Wallace presidential campaign, and Nixon's swooping up of those voters with his southern strategy, Republicans have not been a coherent policy in the least, choosing rather to attract tribal subjectivists who do not measure real world goods but rather make symbolic gestures to express their hatred for all things urban. While the Republicans made this unreal world of incoherence, the countercultural left was fast maturing past 60's recreational subjectivism and by the early 70's were creating a big economy via publishing and academia. Subjectivism ceased to be recreational, old hippies got professional about their psycho-somatic methodologies.

Republicans ruled Washington (East Coast), and Dems/counter-cultural left ruled the storytelling worlds of Hollywood (West Coast) and books.

Then on Sept 11 World War III broke out. Washington responded with the largest , longest barrage of subjective making-shit-up the world has ever known. More powerful than 1000,000 of the original atomic bomb. Through 70's and 80's Repubs and Dems had toyed with casual Postmodernism, with the most adventurous being on the left side in academia or popular books. But on Sept 12th, the Bush Administration pulled a Postmodernism out of a research hanger at the Heritage Foundation that simply made history and science melt away.

This Postmodernism kicked ass, mowed down opponents like they were grass. Except for real opponents. Oh yeah, that thing the hippies and the new Repubs forgot about -objectivism, realism, empiricism. You can make history and science melt away, but reality does not melt so easily. You, the subjective, will melt first.

A survey of what is hot and what is not: 1960-2008 Making-shit-up in your head and finding others who agree was the new cool. 2009-? Engineering and empiricism are in, making things and finding other to help make it better is the new cool. Rest in Peace Postmodernism, the head trip was fun till it became an addiction.

Unqualified is the Qualified in Postmodernism

A little backstory: I'm from Arkansas. Live in Seattle. Will vote for Obama. Do not like George Bush as President. I am liberal by most right winger perspectives. What I say in this blog posting is analysis, not my preferences. And the analysis is aided by my extensive experience in the backwaters of the Southeast, combined with undergrad and graduate studies in postmodernism in uberleftist schools in the Northwest.

The Left and (good) established media are getting it wrong on Sarah Palin. She is qualified because she is a hockey mom. Her answers in interviews that have sent pundits into a tailspin of derision are the articulations of your standard hockey mom, or a mom that owns a successful diner in Memphis Tennessee, or a mom that is in a bureaucratic position at the local police station. I'm met 100's of those types of women, kin to a few, and can tell you for sure that all they need to know is the leader of Iran hates Israel and the next thing out of their mouth is "then we need to kill that man".

America will vote for a woman like that.

Postmodernism has taught the legitimacy of the less than aristocratic, the less than educated, the less than expert. Republicans operate on that; are strengthened by that. While the nuanced and smart that proliferate the campuses and more urbane metro areas of the USA tout academic capital P Postmodernism, they don't know game as it is being played on the streets. Postmodernism is certainly a threat to old orders of doing things, but it is not a tool that only fits into the hands of former slaves, the downtrodden, and indigenous. Actually it is a tool that only works for those who know how to manipulate it. I contend that to manipulate it, one is better served by acting unqualified and ignorant rather than articulating a thesis such as historical slavery.

George Bush II was the only person in his family we could call "stupid", and his family has been amazed at his success eclipsing his more brilliant brother. GWB should thank god for postmodernism, because he got through 2 Presidential elections riding on the mandatory qualification of "ignorant" as part of the Cult of Personality in a postmodern state. Adding to this, in the smaller towns away from metropolitan suburbs across the South is a type of man who is successful by local standards but an ignorant oaf by New York City or Stanford standards. I've met a lot of those kinds of middle aged men -they talk and act just like George Bush II.

America voted for that kind of man.

With every New York Times Op-Ed piece that correctly points to Palin's lack of expertise, they have added to the power of her in Cult of Personality in the postmodern state.

My Book: Who it is about, What it is about

I have published a 26 page book through Amazon.com's publishing company, and is now on sale. The book is called "Post-Apocalyptic Industrialization". It can be read for free here, and is purchasable here.

In the book I mention enslaving pacifist communities and killing anarchist communities ( in Chapter 2-D ). I want to offer up why this is in the book. First off, the book is a fiction about the future, so nothing in it is literal. The book's 50% goal is a memetic attack on a political agenda called Anarcho-Primitivism, Post-Apocalyptic Eco-Anarchism, and simply Primitivism. ( Google and Wikipedia are your friends on researching this ). My relationship to that community of activists is personal and first-hand, especially while attending Evergreen State College and/or living in Olympia Washington.

My memetic attack is not meant for a more generic anarchist, or pacifist, or person living in a more natural lifestyle. My book is a meme, and it lives to attack a people and their vision. The specific vision I attack is expressed in EXHIBIT A of this post. That rant is totally inline with language and reasonings I've heard from dozens while at anti-war meetings, house parties, and classroom seminar discussions in Olympia.

To cut to the chase, I am an enemy of Primitivists. I am not wealthy, tied to organized religion, nor like the bland, ugly landscape east of the Mississippi River. I am functionally poor, sort of anarchist in social reasoning, atheistic, and demand the presence of big nature in the form 14,000 ft mountains and the Inside Passage. My preferences and marginalization put me in a space perfect for the Primitivist sales pitch. I've listened to the sales pitch, turned down the offer, and the salesmen still keep harassing the whole planet to buy their offer. It's time to X those salesmen out of this world, and my meme is designed to do that.

One assumption in the Primitivist mind is when the big powers ( police, military, corporations ) are in decline or gone the Primitivist ethos, lifestyle, and ideology will gain a reinforcing loop of ascendence. My meme is intended as a bomb in the middle of that reinforcing loop. The power of that bomb is not corporate technology or money, but rather an anarchic type of geek unhindered by the current paradigm of morals and social constraints. In a circular kind of story line reminiscent of Planet of the Apes, my meme could provide some of the initialization of such a geek culture preying on the weak, defenseless Primitivist camps of the Pacific Northwest. That is why it is published in old-school media of paperback, rather than solely digital meme. As a book, it could survive a computer destroying apocalypse, and resurface in the hands of people capable of carrying out its mission.

Exhibit A: Anarcho-Primitivist Stance

You call for a cultural transformation to save civilization, yet there is nothing worth saving. You want to save something which is based on the destruction of the natural world, you're a hypocrite. You say we're wanting suicide but the very nature of continuing civilization is suicidal. Civilization isn't going to be brought down by us, it is going to collapse, and that is all we can do is aid in bringing the collapse faster because the sooner it does collapse, the better off this species will be. Yes, many people have to die, but many people are going to die if we keep with this civilization. How many people a year are dying as a result of carwrecks? Of preventable diseases? Of sickness' from the food? Of police attacks (and yes, police are a result of civilization)? How many a year die of starvation? How many will die because of global warming (which will continue if we keep up with this way of life)? Christ, how many sharks die per year because of this civilization? Are you seriously willing to accept the continual murder of the ocean? Your solution to the problem still is including industrial civilization which is insane. What do you suggest, alternative energy? There isn't enough alternative energy to meet the energy demands of this world, even if we go with the unrealistic options of ethanol and biodiesel. You recognize that civilization is unsustainable, yet you are stupid enough to believe we should continue on with it anyways? Do you understand what that means when something isn't sustainable?

As anarchists should we just accept Libertarian thought and go with "lesser" government until we are finally left with no government? Or should we just abolish the whole fucking State? The point being, civilization leads to domination and hierarchy, we all should recognize this by now. It leads to work, exploitation, slavery, war, etc. Your argument of tribal wars ignores that there was no such thing as tribal wars before the rise in agriculture which also created the concepts of priviate property, ownership, and settlement. Primitivism argues that we should go back to living in hunter-gatherer societies. You're calling for a slow change, gradual change, which is completely illogical, and doesn't take into account that we don't have the time to make a gradual change for one, and that it's not worth making. The Earth is being killed and you're willing to accept that because you are too afraid to live without civilization. I'm not. We need this Earth to survive and your leftist bullshit ideas are not going to save us, you can have all the energy efficient lightbulbs you want, but if our lifestyle is still unsustainable then it doesn't fucking matter. If I can't drink the water, breathe the air, and live, then it doesn't matter what kind of world we live in. Read Derrick Jensen's Endgame, or something by John Zerzan, at least figure out what the hell you're attacking before you attack it, this essay is full of flaws and doesn't understand at all the thoughts of primitivists.

Post-Apocalyptic Technology: Home Computing

In 2010 the Immediate-Connected-World (ICW) broke. Due to a combination of 1) Corporate dissolutions without replacement 2) Terrorist/activist systems disruptions 3) and decline of uniform and ubiquitous governmental services -the Immediate-Connected-World broke into the Organic-Connected-World (OCW). No, we did not revert to biologically bounded lifestyles ( an intellectual way of saying "living like the New World natives once did"), rather the world shifted a little sideways towards more ad-hoc means of interconnectivity and high technology.

In the realm of personal computer and internet use the world has quickly adapted. Almost universal is the use of Knoppix Live CD's and Android for operating systems. All operating systems that have any success in connecting to the OCW are booted from a read-only configuration. The space in which a user saves preferences/bookmarks and document entries is on The Virus (TV).

TV is a constantly self-redefining, self-regenerating, warring, policing and benevolently serving virus swarm functioning as the glue for the OCW. The interactive EXE and the modifiable DOC no longer lives on the client machine nor on the server farm, but on the TV . The network is still the computer, and Google is still the interface. But since the fall of ICW a user accessing Google search (the OCW version at http://600673.com/) is not likely in direct contact with the Google server farm in The Dalles, but rather accessing a transient ecosystem of bots/viruses that both herd the user's information/interactivity (input) through the swarm and also herd search results (output) to the user. Information is stored in a transient and ad-hoc manner within bots/viruses currently alive on machines. OCW emerged quickly to fill a needed function space, and also achieved a once impossible computer science goal. The OCW is a bizarre accomplishment of the long held desire to share computational power across all computers on the network. In 2008, cloud-computing allowed a small 400Mhz device with 1GB storage to utilize Google CPU/Storage resources. In 2010 every currently online CPU has combined into The Ad-Hoc Cluster CPU TACC.

Post-Apocalyptic Technology: Managing Apocalypses

When I say "After the fall of government" I am just using an easier phrase for the ear. I really mean "After the extreme decline of governance and services provided by the government". The US federal government is still in existence in Washington DC. Most of the operational offices and war-rooms are in the former DC subway system. They are now referred to as .gov TLD. Their role outside the subway caves is improvised, shaped by the power ratios of clans and fiefdoms and their own expendable resources at the moment. .gov TLD keeps most of its far flung operations focused on resource stealing or revenge. This was a theme established during the Bush II years, and seems to work for them. ( the "stealing and revenge" economy is an alternative to our intentional community's "warring and trading" viking-informational economy. I believe the viking methodology is more sustainable. Revenge is often a resource hog. )

In 2008-2010 .gov TLD was led in its last great arc of respectable glory, with Barak Obama at the helm. His legacy was a soft and cultural one -he gave Americans a new style of honest reasoning, with the candor of his speeches. This meme was a building block of resilient communities that emerged as .gov TLD shrank. Then in April 2010 his old opponent Hillary led a coup. Obama fled to Alaska, now invested with permanent tenured status and propagates effectively within the .google TLD. Hillary has since directed .gov TLD in what she calls a V Monologue style.

Through these same years a threat developed in our region. The NeoRajneeshees. Led by Ma Anand Sheela ( real name Sheela Birnstiel ). She perpetrated the first bioterror attack in US history, planting salmonella in restaurants to incapacitate locals in order to skew election results. All this in support of her guru Indian mystic Bhagwan Rajneesh. During the early 2000's she operated upscale senior homes in Switzerland. In 2009 Sheela saw the policing vacuums in US governance and returned to Antelope Oregon. Her red frocked followers from Little Rock Arkansas ( I actually knew several of them in the mid 1980's, even seeing a personal letter alerting that Sheela had fled the compound with millions of dollars. It was a first life lesson that New Age combined with female leadership leads to a horribly abusive society and a terroristic threat to outsiders. Years later seeing the intellectually stunted Lesbians with Small Offices at Yellow Springs Antioch University was another horrific example).

The NeoRajneeshees were now 40-60's somethings, not the more youthful profile of their first attempt at local domination. They also had an estimated 4000 seniors from Switzerland. All were medically enhanced, using bioengineering tricks first popularized by Seattle's Lake Union biotech companies. The seniors were strong enough to clear passages in old mines, and these mines became the living quarters for The NeoRajneeshees.

Trouble for our intentional community came on October 12, 2012. The NeoRajneeshees sent 12 seniors to our commune with a message -that they wanted our land. The seniors then dumped a dead person on the ground, poisoned by genetic intervention/alteration. They explained that this is what they will do with us, if we stay one more month. They then swallowed a vial, passed out, and their bodies morphed into the same outwardly visible characteristics as the dead victim.

We were full of dread.

An amazingly timed, but totally bizarre and unanticipated thing happened before our month deadline was up. We got this information by watching surveillance video nanopiped from The NeoRajneeshees compound. They had continued digging in the mine shafts, I guess to expand their living quarters. Jump back for a backstory: A Christian Youth Ministry had bought the old The Rajneeshee Ranch in the 1990's. Around 2009 they just vaporized, no one knew where they went. In our surveillance video we believe we saw them. The NeoRajneeshees suddenly started running back out of the cave. Maybe a 1000 people, if you can call them that, came behind them. They were all wearing Mormon style underwear only, and had no legs past their knees. But wow were they fast in those caves!

The Christian Youth Ministry Cave Monsters ate all the NeoRajneeshees. At least that's what others told me, I couldn't watch all of the footage.

In January 2013 we got a "revenge stipend" from .gov TLD for the death of Sheela Birnstiel, a nice petroleum credit and also limited search access of .gov TLD. We are tunneling this access to the Google cloud, to expand the cloud.

Post-Apocalyptic Technology: An Intentional Community

Our Intentional Community on the outskirts of The Dalles, Oregon.

Seven years ago, in 2008, twelve of us were hired as data center technicians at the world's largest and most important server farm, the Google Data Center in The Dalles Oregon. (see the original job posting we answered here). We decided to create an intentional community to help share child care, operate a fish catching boat, and share the cost of home based server and telecom equipment.

Recently higher fuel and food prices have been a challenge. Alongside economic hardships the nation-state has collapsed in its ability to provide services, and anarchy is on the rise. Our commune has grown to 37 people total, and we decided to put more intentional in our community.

With some under the table money from one of the town's larger data centers, we began to outfit our intentional community designed for warring and trading (Viking means "warring and trading"). We decided warring and trading is fundamentally an informational economy, so our protection of the Google Data Center and running our home telecom fit perfectly well with 21st century viking.

Our vehicular arsenal includes an old bio-diesel Unimog, seen in the photo transporting one of our 10 cargobikes, and an assortment of diesel motorbikes. We have a varying amount of junk off-road four-wheelers we recast as drones with self-detonation or fire-spreading as their main mission. We finished off the dorms ( full of anti-technology students destined be powerful bureaucrats working for peaceful homeostasis ) at Reed and Evergreen State driving these drones with mouse/keyboard from this desk.

While we harvest protein from the Columbia River, we need vegetables and other food stuffs. The Northwest abounds in pacifist, luddite, vegan intentional communities, and we have little resistance taking food from these people. We abide by the rule of any good tribute system, and allow them enough sustenance to live on to grow us more food. These communities are off-grid anyway, so essentially no longer equals or constituents in the informational economy. We occasionally get representatives of European human rights organizations staying in town and asking about our activities. There are no pure humans working in town, only bio-robot hybrids strongly allied with our ethics. The Old World humans are easily contained.

In our early years, before the collapse of the nation-state, we read this and this for inspiration. Of course the ultimate inspiration is always the Google cloud infrastructure.

Thanks to Antioch University in Seattle for inspiring this meme.

The Misery of Mystical Rhetoric: Battle of the early 21st Century

Cinema often offers great critique of the human condition with the use of ravenous hordes of demons, bad-aliens, zombies, mutants, or horseback/motorcycle riders. These sick hordes swarm into nice villages and destroy things. The good guys either successfully defeat them (in older movies and Mars Attacks) or just outrun them (newer movies and 28 Days Later), or the hordes win and all the nice people die (28 Months Later). A subtle and truly full treatment of all outcomes is in the Buffy/Angel series.

I am not talking about Cinema in this post. But the familiar scenes of massive carnage in movies can be seen in our real world, and the ravenous, vile attacker is Mysticism. Mysticism in language, specifically.

In the last decades of the 20th century Mysticism seemed to find renewed vigor with the schtick of Postmodernism. At its most basic axioms, Postmodernism postulated that objective language did not map well onto reality. Objective statements were merely the subjective experience of a dominant class imposed as dogma. Beyond the dominance issue, Mystical Postmodernists attempted to operate on the logical plane by emphasizing the compression that goes on in objectivity. The world is full of so many dimensions to a given perception, with a wild and dynamic range of variables and hierarchies, the Mystical Postmodernists found what they thought was the scene of a crime by pointing to objective process squashing the world to an oversimplification.

The only crime at the scene has been the depravity of the Mystical Postmodernists. While pointing at the simplification processing within objectivity, or logical taxonomies as a lesser taxonomy to living relationship taxonomies, Mysticism commits a much greater crime of oversimplification. How? By compression to no dimension. Objective language reduces a subject to less dimensions than its reality, Mysticism reduces a subject to the least of all: zero dimensions. While platonic forms are one dimensional, Mysticism provides the final negation in subtracting the platonic archetype. Gone are the objects, and gone are the logical taxonomies. Living relationship is all that remains.

I like to play a language game: { If a Y always practices X, they never practice X }. Example: If Mysticism professes to maintain living relationship, then it never maintains living relationship. Societies strongly bound to Mysticism carve the best out of their every relationship, leaving an impoverished nihilism with no language/mental mechanism to get itself out of its zero dimensional trap.

A walking dead group that cannot help themselves, but can destroy others by critiquing their ability to live. And by "live" I mean perceive and store new information, adapt, and engineer -all of which are an imperfect process easily sniped by a metaphysical ethos.

The test of the 21st century is whether the living recognize the offense of the dead.

Origins of Right Wing Consciousness and the Closed Mind

In my previous post I basically made a strongly negative appraisal of the Postmodern Left and Right, and praised the candidacy of Barak Obama is a sign of hope in rising above the Left and Right. I praised both political centrism and a minority representing its rise.

I posted the same blog entry to Craigslist Philosophy Forum. I got several nonsensical replies (which is the CL way of replying with a negative vote), and also got one reply that is on display here for some analysis (please post comments). Here it is:

Subject: PC Username:Bill_F_Buckley Time: 02/28 23:25:41

Centrism, like it's a good thing. my a**.

Tie goes to the government? sh**

our nation was founded on individual rights, not the rights of the government.

the postmodern age has confused rights of the criminal with rights of the individual. it is this cockeyed structure that creates a system biased in favor of the lawbreaking citizen at the expense of the law abiding citizen.

all other rights are abdicated to the government.

bullshit. Obama is not centrist, the hope that postmodern centrism is going to provide some sort of political balance is naive.

until the founding father's radical empowerment of the individual is recognized as the philosophy behind the founding of this country, conservatives will be at odds with the center and left.

thats what you commie f**** don't get.

After my decade of deeply embedded activity on the Left I thought my pro-centrism on this blog was sort of....right-wing. Then this CL poster gives a good expression of the true right-wing. "The postmodern age has confused rights of the criminal with rights of the individual. it is this cockeyed structure that creates a system biased in favor of the lawbreaking citizen at the expense of the law abiding citizen". I charge this is a half-truth that enables another wrong. I think the statement is true of the Postmodern Left, that they more often fight for the criminal because he/she is an individual, rather than than fighting for the individual's right to the pursuit of happiness ( which is bounded within both not being a criminal and not being a victim of crime). But notice the CL poster's hatred of government? Why? Because the Postmodern Right has their own class of criminals they are trying to defend and keep from behind bars.

The USA now has the dystopic distinction of having 1 in 100 citizens behind bars. The Postmodern Left encouraged the pursuit of life as a criminal, and the Postmodern Right encouraged the ruination of the same people's lives through poverty and incarceration. This is a formula for exponential unhappiness in middle to lower class society.

Their are signs of hope. Barak Obama represents them. Also, I noticed this news story, and within its semiotics is an instance of the right thing. In the story minorities physically stopped a fugitive, tying him up for the police to pick up. Chinese community catches America's Most Wanted fugitive.

Minorities empowered after demise of Postmodern Left

This post began as an email reply to Benjamin Galbraith's A Diversity of Whiteness essay.

Most minority empowerment before the death of Martin Luther King Jr was about allowing minorities full access to the monoculture, to the economy. Around the time of MLK's death, a new American Left was coincidentally coming into existence. This was a critical mass of ( usually white ) academics or pop visionaries. They were opportunists in a wave of truly experimental sonic exploration and widespread use of somatic drugs. While it should be kept in mind that the FBI, Nixon, and the assassins of Kennedys and MLK where mean people supporting an unfair status quo; it is also plausible that the new American Left was prone to societal abuse because of their distance (per their professions) from such mundane pragmatics as running a Fire Department or building durable Interstate bridges. In short, the new American Left lacked exposure to the practical, making the development of their ideas prone to pathos, prone to malformations, prone to deformations.

When this Postmodern Left took on the fight for minorities, they locked those minorities out of engineering schools, medical schools, and running the Fire Department. To the new Left, those schools are superficial manifestations of the disease. The "disease" is the monocultural economy. This new Postmodern Left had a case of very fundamental worship of a horrible, white, romantic idea from earlier centuries -the noble savage. The Postmodern Left assumes non-whites of the world are better, always, because, always, they are more strongly bonded with something humans did 10,000 years ago. In short the Postmodern Left believes the dark skinned person is always more savage, and that savagery is always better. (Equally despicable, the Postmodern Right equate the same as always savage and that savage is always worse.)

Fortunately this idealization called "noble savage" doesn't really map onto the world I've seen. From my experience in life, the world is full of many people that are the top candidates for engineering schools, medical schools, and the Fire Department. An inconvenient truth for the KKK, myself the white guy, and the Postmodern Left is most of these top candidates are East African, Vietnamese, Indian, Arabian, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.

This fact about the real world castrates every hateful scumbag KKK member, and every loving scumbag Postmodern Left revolutionary.

And like everyone that is castrated, the KKK types and the Postmodern Left won't have representatives later in this century.

For anyone noticing the excitement around Senator Obama, here is a label to put on that excitement: He is representative of the minorities I speak of, and the symbolic demise of the Postmodern Left and Right. He is the rise of a Postmodern Center, with the discussion of minority inclusion or exclusion negated by a real world asserted over privileged people's idealizations.

Marshal Plans, Postmodernism, and Anarchists vs Evangelical Anarchists

Today, fools talk of rescuing the world through an ideology. The greatest fools simultaneously believe we are in a postmodern age and also believe small groups can change larger society. The link from small group to larger society isn't there, by the very definition of postmodernism.

For American counterculture intelligentsia this has to be a painful realization. Agendas for growing a pacific or humanist ethos out from small local DIY communities or from the marketing campaigns of NGO's has hit spatial territorial limits, with the ethos having saturation in many cities/states (e.g. San Francisco, Vermont) and almost no presence in the rest of the USA.

An Iron Law of Postmodernism has emerged: The tribe is only important to themselves, and a mere object for exploitation or ridicule to others. Members of my tribe are people, other tribes are just wet, speaking meat. To prove my point, note how the Celebrate Diversity camp talk about their nemesis archetypes the Nazis, the Moral Majority and the Bush administration.an example

In the fluidity of these postmodern times Bush II and his voter base properly wielded the Iron Law of Postmodernism. They taxed the pants off hippies, and expanded the military-industrial complex both in size and in geography by locating the new additions to the "industry" in redneck and suburban zones of the US. Bush and Co. must have had an orgasm every time a tax paying anti-war protester declares "Not my President". That protest statement was a sign the postmodern White House was working as expected, taxing the wet meat of the opposing tribe.

There is not going to be another Marshall Plan for centrally mandating (and following through with) the repairing of societies or spreading such themes as Democracy, Freedom, Women's Rights, Protestant Theology or New Age Benevolence. A fully developed vision of this is at Global Guerillas blog:

"It should be clear, as we watch the gyrations and excesses of global markets, that no organization/state/group has any meaningful control over its direction. The same is true for almost every other aspect of globalization, from the environment to transnational crime to energy flows. In short, we've lost control and our collective future is in the hands of a morally neutral system that is operating in ways that we don't fully understand (nor will we). The best defense against this emerging situation is not to call for new Manhattan projects or global treaties or Marshall plans, which won't work since we can neither marshal the resources necessary nor collectively agree on anything other than the most basic rules of connectivity, it is to slowly introduce organic stability into out global system. The concept I've latched onto as a solution is what I call the resilient community."
The Resilient Community, John Robb, Jan 30 2008.

Anarchists, wow its going to hurt when their agenda recursively reacts on them. I've had several years since living in the Northwest in which I was in a political action with anarchists. Their Northwest USA species goes like this: We need to be hunter-gatherers, that if we are hunter-gatherers there will be no perpetrators of violence, all sense of linear time and objective punctuality are bunk, and industrialization is the devil.

Like the postmodern Bush II crushing the postmodern idealists, there may be an anarchist type that kills Anarcho-Primitivists for sport or profit. There is a growing awareness amongst less idealistic anarchists that if the fall of industrialism occurs, the world will default to an iron age. This means the military gear of the Middle Ages. A simple review of the Middle Ages should remind any Anarcho-Primitivists of one wide-spread phenomenon: the easy butchering of neolithic people by small bands of sword carrying men. There are more examples in history than the same old colonialist stories. The metal owning Huns invaded what is now called Hungary and exterminated almost the entire population of primarily peasant class agrarians. This extermination was without drama, less than 5 Huns would manage the chopping off heads in a whole zone of a neighborhood. Docile, unarmed populations without mobility are easy to manage that way.

No one cares about, or will care about, Anarcho-Primitivists anyway, so moving on. What I find interesting in a stereotype breaking sort of way is talk amongst suburban, middle-to-upper-class, evangelical leaders of embracing Anarchy. Here is one major leader's blog entry: God, Government, and Christianity. Who knows where this Evangelical Anarchy thing might go? Maybe in 2015 we could see amoral outliers of the Evangelical Anarchists killing or selling Anarcho-Primitivists. History has stranger stories.

Worldwide systems intervention may still be possible, but the little possibility there is seems most promising from Dubai hedge fund managers and the President of China. They are the only entities with the intellectual and monetary horsepower to accomplish the task.

Tunable Properties

While slashdot-reading (a certain stylized depth and breadth of research) about quantum dot nanotechnology google, I came across the phrase "tunable properties" google.

This age we are fast approaching promises to reach into our assumptions of the natural world and morph things into new forms and functions. Platonic forms and aristocratic hierarchies have been vehemently challenged in early days of postmodernism, but only in the realm of ethical principles. Challenging Greek classicists has been a religious or ideological affair, and the manifestations in physical space were mostly the human domain of (social) clustering and missions. The early days of postmodernism were about changing our minds.

The near future will move the revolution out of the playpen of mind altering and onto the base elements and technological phenomenon of our natural world. Previously your ideas had to change in order to continue existing in a group, in the future your ideas will have to change to continue existing in the environment.

Platonic forms. Tunable properties. Are yours?
